Niaar supplies explosion-proof fans certified to ATEX and IECEx for hazardous area ventilation in UAE oil and gas and chemical facilities. Zone 1, Zone 2, and Class I Division 1 fans from Systemair, Greenheck, Stahl, and Warom.
Niaar supplies explosion-proof fans certified to ATEX and IECEx standards for hazardous area ventilation in UAE oil and gas, chemical, and petrochemical facilities. We source from Systemair, Greenheck, Stahl, and Warom.
Our range covers Zone 1 and Zone 2 classified areas in Gas Groups IIA, IIB, and IIC, as well as Class I Division 1 fans for North American hazardous location requirements.
Explosion-proof fans are ventilation units designed to operate safely in atmospheres containing flammable gases, vapors, dusts, or fibers. Standard fans cannot be used in these environments because electrical components and motor windings can produce sparks or hot surfaces that ignite flammable mixtures. Consequently, explosion-proof fans incorporate flameproof (Ex d) motor enclosures, spark-resistant impellers, and static-dissipating materials to eliminate ignition sources.
ATEX certified fans carry EU-recognized certification for use in potentially explosive atmospheres in Europe and countries that accept ATEX marking. IECEx fans carry internationally recognized certification issued under the IEC Scheme for Explosive Atmospheres. Both certifications require independent third-party testing and factory quality audits.
Zone 1 fans are required in areas where flammable gas or vapor is likely to be present during normal operation. This includes pump rooms, compressor enclosures, and enclosed process areas.
Zone 2 fans are specified for areas where explosive atmospheres are unlikely during normal operation but may occur in abnormal conditions. Additionally, non-classified areas adjacent to Zone 1 may require Zone 2 rated equipment depending on layout.
Class I Division 1 fans correspond approximately to Zone 1 under the North American NEC classification system. Class I Division 1 fans are commonly specified for projects engineered to American or Canadian standards. Furthermore, the gas group classification (IIA, IIB, IIC or A, B, C, D) determines the level of explosion containment required.
Ex d flameproof fans use motor enclosures designed to contain an internal explosion without allowing ignition of the surrounding atmosphere. The enclosure flanges are machined to precise gap dimensions that quench the flame before it can exit the casing.
Ex d fans are therefore suitable for the most hazardous Zone 1 environments. Stahl and Warom are recognized suppliers of Ex d certified fan motors and assemblies.
Ex e fans use increased safety motors, which eliminate potential ignition sources by careful design rather than containment. They are suitable for Zone 1 and Zone 2 applications where the gas group permits. Additionally, Ex n fans are specifically rated for Zone 2 service where reduced protection is acceptable.
Spark-resistant fans are designed to prevent friction sparks between the impeller and casing in the event of mechanical contact. AMCA (Air Movement and Control Association) defines three spark-resistant construction types. Type A uses non-sparking materials for all rotating components. Type B uses non-sparking materials for the impeller only. Type C uses non-sparking materials only for the casing.
Hazardous area ventilation systems may use spark-resistant fans where the risk of flammable atmosphere is lower than Zone 1 classification. However, ATEX or IECEx certified equipment is always required where explosive atmospheres are classified under regional hazardous area codes. Therefore, Niaar recommends confirming the area classification before specifying fan protection type.
As a Dubai-based procurement specialist, Niaar sources explosion-proof fans for UAE hazardous area ventilation projects across all zones, gas groups, and temperature classes.
We maintain close relationships with Systemair and Greenheck for ATEX certified fans, and with Stahl and Warom for Ex d and Ex e motor configurations. Additionally, we provide ATEX or IECEx certificates, EC declarations of conformity, and installation manuals for all certified products.
Niaar delivers reliable supply of explosion-proof fans for Zone 1 fans, Zone 2 fans, and Class I Division 1 fans applications in UAE industrial facilities.
